PRIMAL PIZZA BASE VEGAN FRIENDLY

Our entire Primal Pre Mixes range can be made in vegan friendly versions that taste just as good as the original recipes. 

What's the swap? Eggs! Each Primal Pre Mix is vegan in their own right however we do rely heavily on eggs to complete the finish product. 

Luckily for us, there is plenty of egg substitutes we can use that create a finished product that's just as tasty and suitable for our plant based and vegan friends.

 

Our go-to Egg Subtitutes 

Chia Seed "Egg" 
Mix together 1 tbs chia seeds and 2.5 tbs of water and leave to sit for 5 minutes. Use these measurements to substitute 1 egg. 

 

Flax "Egg"
Mix together 1 tbs ground flaxseed/linseed and 3 tbs of water and leave to sit for 5 minutes. Use these measurements to substitute 1 egg. 

Egg Replacer
You can purchase a ready made Egg Replacer mix at most health food store or supermarkets and are gluten, grain, dairy free and vegan friendly. Just follow the directions on the box.

 

Primal Pizza Base Vegan Friendly Recipe

Things you need
Makes 2 large bases or 4 small bases

  • 150ml water
  • 150ml coconut oil or light olive oil
  • 50ml apple cider vinegar
  • 2 x egg substitutes (e.g. 2 chia eggs)       
  • 40g coconut flour for kneading

 

Method

Preheat oven 220*C (fan forced). Line pizza trays with baking paper.

In a large bowl add the pizza base mix and set aside.

In a small saucepan add your oil, water and apple cider vinegar place over medium heat and bring to the boil.

Remove from heat and add to dry ingredients. Mix well and set aside to cool.

Once the mix is cool to touch, add 2 egg substitutes and stir until combined.

Place the mix onto a bench or board, dust with coconut flour and knead together to form the dough.

Divide the dough and press out onto the lined trays. Add your desired toppings and bake for 15-17 mins or until the edges are golden brown.

*Depending on your oven, you may wish to pre bake your pizza bases before adding toppings
