5 Minutes of Fame with Keryn McMaster
We love our Paleo Hero ambassadors & we wanted to share a bit more about them with you in our 5 minutes of fame with them.
1. What is your favorite Paleo Hero product?
My favourite Paleo Hero product would have to be the Primal Choc Granola. Its the best thing after training to eat by itself or add to a smoothie.
2. What does a 'day in the life of' look like for you?
A day in the life of Keryn McMaster... A typical day for me starts at 4.30am with a coffee before heading off to the pool. Hit the water at 5.45 until I finish my session, a dry land session comes next, it could be boxing, yoga, pilates or gym depending on what day it is :) I get home around 10-11am and then its a big breakfast followed by some university studies or a quick snooze and then lunch around 1pm before heading back to the pool at 2.30pm. I get home around 6.30 and then make dinner stretch and trigger sleep before 9pm and then back at it the next day.
3. If you could give one piece of nutritional wisdom to the Australian public, what would it be?
You don't have to eat a particular way to be healthy, instead of dieting look at the balance a healthy lifestyle. Rome wasn't built in a day so choose to change your lifestyle rather than go onto a diet.
4. If you could spend the day with one celebrity, who would it be & why?
I would love to spend a day with Pink, she is an amazing role model to young girls and she never has to be anyone but herself. She is a strong independent women and it shows in her music. She promotes women using their heads instead of relying on their looks in life and I think that is a great message!
5. What's your favourite colour?
I am a typical girl my favourite colour is pink, whenever I race I make sure that my toes and finger nails are painted pink.
6. What's your favourite way to workout when you are not training?
When not training in the pool, I love to workout with other people either in the gym or just out for a run with my dog.
7. Can you share with us a motivational quote that really resonates with you?
"A bird sitting on a tree is never afraid of the branch breaking, because her trust is not in the branch, but in her own wings.... believe in yourself". Unknown
8. Some days as an athlete must be tougher than others. What gets you through the tough days?
The days I find myself really trying to pick myself up my family and teammates are the ones I find make it easier. When someone is down it is up to us as a team to make sure that person can push through. Swimming my be an individual sport but the triumphs never happen by working alone.
9. What does relaxing look like in your down-time?
Ahhhh relaxing I love that word! A day of down time would consist of laying on the couch and watching movies or listening to music, anything that can relax my mind and take it off swimming. A cafe, a good coffee and book does the trick well also.
10. Who is the person who has inspired you most to do what you do?
My brother was the reason I wanted to start swimming, He was burnt as a toddler quite badly and for his rehab swimming was the best option and I saw him in the water and every younger sibling always wants to do what the older does. But without my previous Coach Dean Pugh I would not still be swimming today, he gave me strength when I thought I didn't have any, he helped me believe in my ability and enjoy the sport. He was more than just my coach He was my family so I have him to thank for where I am today.
